How to: Use the Open Time Trade Feature

The term "Open Time" refers to open seat complements on a pairing which are yet to be assigned to a crewmember. The merlot Trip Trade function allows crew to see "open" pairings on the Trade Board, and trade these with existing allocations on their line. Merlot doesn't support direct "dropping" of pairings at this time, so crewmembers must pick up a pairing in order to de-allocate something from their existing line. The following article explains how the "Open Time" function is used within CrewPortal.

Step-by-step Guide

  1. After selecting ‘Trip Trades’ from the Crew Portal home screen the Trade Board will be displayed. Using the Pairing hyperlink select a pairing.

  2. The ‘View Duties’ button allows users to access more information about the pairing, i.e. Sector Details and Assigned Crew. Select submit to proceed with the trade and then enter a comment in the pop up window

  3. Merlot will review the request for any potential duty violations. Below is an example of an offer declined due to insufficient rest.

  4. Follow the same steps to submit a new request for Open Time on 21FEB.

  5. If the requested trade passes the validation checks, the status will change to ‘Success’.
